US Army Sgt. Terry Jay Lynch, 22, died on June 29, 2009 when a roadside bomb blew up near the vehicle in which he was riding. According to the Department of Defense, the explosion occurred in Wardak Province of Afghanistan.
Sgt. Lynch was serving with the 3rd Squadron of the 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. He was stationed at Fort Drum, N.Y., with the light infantry 10th Mountain Division.
Following is the schedule of events to honor the memory of Sgt. Lynch:

| 8 | 7:00pm | Vigil service at St. Bernard's Parish, 226 Wicks Lane, Billings, MT |
| 9 | 10:00am | Patriot Guard musters for ride at Walmart parking lot on Main and Wicks Lane. The Patriot Guard will then ride to the church and form a flag line. For additional details contact ride captain Wes Lambert. |
| 9 | 11:00am | Funeral Mass at St. Bernard's Parish. |
| 9 | 1:15pm | Form flag line on the corner of Wicks Lane and Main Street in Billings Heights. |
| 9 | 1:30pm | The procession will leave for the Shepherd Cemetery, where Sgt. Lynch will be interred with Military Honors. The Patriot Guard will escort the procession. |
| 9 | 1:45pm | Form flag line on the corner of Shepherd Rd and Carey Rd in Shepherd. |
The VFW Post 6774 Auxiliary will line the route with yellow ribbons. The American Legion is organizing a flag line on the corner of Wicks Ln. and Main Street (Hallmark parking lot) in Billings, and the corner of Shepherd Rd. and Carey Rd. in Shepherd. Please join the flag lines. Legionnaires please wear your caps. The American Legion will also present the family with a Gold Star Banner.
