If your post is not listed above, you can create printable forms that you can either mail, or hand to the Post Adjutant. Select the post from the following list:
In addition to the above, you can become a member of The American Legion in the following ways:
- Ask any American Legion member about joining.
- Attend a American Legion Post meeting. You can find your nearest post by clicking the Post menu button on the left.
- Contact the Adjutant of the Post that you wish to join.
There are a few requirements for becoming a member of the American Legion:
- You must have served at least one day of active duty during one of the following periods:
- Aug 2, 1990 to cessation of hostilities as determined by the U.S. Government
- Dec 20, 1989 to Jan 31, 1990
- Aug 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984
- Feb 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975
- June 25, 1950 to Jan 31, 1955
- Dec 7, 1941 to Dec 31, 1946
- April 6, 1917 to Nov 11, 1918
- You must have served in one of these branches of service:
- U.S. Army
- U.S. Navy
- U.S. Air Force
- U.S. Marines
- U.S. Coast Guard
- Merchant Marines during the period of 12/7/41 to 12/31/46.
- You were honorably discharged, or are serving honorably.
