Columbia Falls American Legion Freedom Post 72 being honored by Sen. Jon Tester with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol building. Sen. Tester thanked now Past Commander Shepard for his building the Post to current levels, and assisting efforts to move all veterans' concerns forward. Flag was awarded during the Senator's visit to Columbia Falls during the Outdoor event on August 22. Chad Campbell was a great help in acquiring the flag for Post display.

Columbia Falls American Legion Freedom Post 72 Commander Michael Shepard presents the two CF High School Juniors, Sam Baltz and Jacob Hohman with their paid up registrations and spending monies to attend The American Legion Boys State at Carroll College the first week of June. The Post raised monies to do this via their Spring Spaghetti feed, and is a result of the response by the Columbia Falls area support. American Legion meetings are held at Columbia Falls City Hall every 2nd MOnday night at 7PM sharp. All Veterans are welcome. Any questions, call Commander Michael Shepard 250-9806

2017 District 4 Oratory Contest

Columbia Falls Oratory Winner

Pictured in front of the Speech and Debate section of the CF High School's Trophy case is American Legion Freedom Post 72 Commander Michael Shepard and this year's Oratorical winner, Colin Norick. with his first place check. Colin won with his speech on the U.S. Constitution, and his assigned speech on the 10th Amendment. He is a repeat winner, as he had won in 2016 also. This allows him to advance to the District Oratorical in Polson for a possible American Legion Scholarship. The Post is able to do this with its various fundraising activities done in Columbia Falls. Next fundraiser is our 3rd Annual Spaghetti Feed on 25 March at the CF Fire Hall, 4 to 7 PM. Tickets will be available from any Post member, or contact the Commander. Monies raised will also assist CF students who decide to go to the Legion's Boys/Girls State at Carroll College, where they learn to create and use our form of government, activities that are promoted and protected by the local American Legion Post.
